April has been a mixed bag of weather across the country. One day it is shorts and t-shirt weather, the next it is jackets and gloves. Even in the lower altitudes of the Mohave Desert, the temperature has been lower than normal. The mornings and evenings have remained pleasantly cool. I’m not complaining because this has meant more time to enjoy wearing one of my favorite transitional cabi Clothing wardrobe pieces, the festive Carnival Top!
The Carnival Top is so fun to wear and perfect for those cool spring “what to wear days?” Seriously, twirling is the first thing that comes to mind when I’m wearing it! A friend pointed out when she saw the photos below, it looked like I was manoeuvering an invisible hula hoop! How fun would it be to show off these dramatic sleeves while hula-hooping carnival-style? The sleeves do take center stage, supported by a flattering button-front design. The sweetheart neckline and empire cut make it all come together in a show-stopping manner.
This theatrical top is dressy and versatile. It pairs nicely with cabi’s comfortable Button-fly Cargo Pants, cabi’s classic black Banded Waist Trousers, and my favorite bottoms, cabi’s white denim trouser jeans. I find the festive stripe also flatters the fitted shape, which hits at the high hip. There are inner snaps to attach to your bra, so no need to worry about stray straps.
The top fits true to size. I’m wearing a size medium. The fabric is 100% rayon which requires a cold hand wash. Lay flat to dry. It irons or steams up nicely. Follow the washing instructions, and it comes out looking brand new!
It will be bittersweet when warmer weather prevails, as saying farewell to this top will bring me such sorrow. I look forward to the occasional cool summer evening when we might meet again. Okay, a bit dramatic but in keeping with the theme of this top, it seems appropriate.
